The Get Down: Denver

The Get Down: Denver

April 28, 2022 — 7:00 PM

We’ve cooked up an extra special throwdown for you in April, Denver! DIS LINEUP IS FILTHYYYYY.

Mama of the movement Tasha Blank is in town to drop a dose of OG Get Down medicine. She birthed the Get Down nine years ago in New York City, which ignited a tidal wave of sonic bliss that we’re all surfing together today.

Kicking off the night with a dance workshop is Lisa Engelken. Lisa is on the faculty of the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, Denver School of the Arts, and The BBoy Factory. Her work has been shown at the San Francisco International Hip Hop Festival, Versa Style Festival LA, and Breakin’ Convention Denver. She holds battle titles from Disciples of Funk House, Stackin’ Stylez 1v1, and Fight Club 1v1. Engelken is founder and producer of the hip hop theatre show Breaking Barriers, which premiered in Lima, Peru, in 2017, and the Crossover Project art program, teaching performance through poetry and dance.

As always, Denver resident and DJ witch Maro is in the house to usher in the freest expression and celebration that music can offer.
